Mammut Stratus Hybrid Jacket
Last week, I test drove the Mammut Stratus Hybrid jacket during a week-long ice climbing adventure in the mountains of Colorado. Every day, from early morning until night, we searched for big icicles to climb, which meant long hours in very cold, wet conditions, with temperatures ranging from the teens to low 40s. This jacket kept me warm and dry, in a mix of precipitation - rain, ice, snow and slush, every day. Not only is the Stratus Hybrid powerfully windproof, it's warm and rugged. I was positive it would rip or snag as I rubbed up on rough ice, snagged tree branches, perched against sharp rocks, but the jacket still looks brand new and it's not even scratched. The hood is spacious and adjustable, which is awesome. The sleeves, equipped with handy thumbholes, keep your jacket organized while adding or stripping layers and gloves. The Stratus Hybrid offers incredible wind control, which is key in cold, wintry conditions, whether you're tromping through snowy canyons, belaying your climbing partner in the shade, or riding your bike around town. It's the perfect shell over a light down coat or under a rain jacket for super wet conditions. Overall, the Stratus Hybrid is an extremely versatile jacket that's warm, windproof, rugged and cozy.
